The Sketchbook Project

The Reinvented Sketchbook Project

An ever growing library of inspiration

Hello!
Six years ago we set out to create an art project that would connect creative people from all over the country. In the past few years the project has grown exponentially. We have had participants from over 135 different countries, and went from 1200 books in the collection in 2009 to over 22,000 sketchbooks today. We have had over 1.3 million views on our digital library and have traveled almost 50,000 miles with the project.
Though all of this exceeded our expectations, we felt that it was time to evolve. The idea of a yearly project was not sustainable. We wanted something that would be more accessible and easier for us to visit more cities and reach more people.
With that in mind, The Sketchbook Project staff has created The Mobile Library. The Mobile Library is a custom built 16 foot trailer that will travel the back roads of America yearround hoping to reach as many as 45 cities a year. It already has a schedule of 20 cities is 2013

We hope you will become a part of the reinvented Sketchbook Project. See you on the road!
Sincerely,
Steven Peterman
Co-Founder
